Daily Schedule
Tardiness
If arriving after 8:20am, please walk your child into the Front Office.
When a student is tardy or dismissed early seven (7) or more days, whether excused or unexcused, a record of tardiness will be sent to the parent/guardian of the student.
When a student is tardy or dismissed early 10 or more days, whether excused or unexcused, the parent/legal guardian will be contact by the Assistant Principal or designee and may be required to attend a conference which may include a school district truancy officer and school administration.
At any point, the School Principal and School Counselor may request a conference to assist with improving attendance.
Remember: A tardy and/or early dismissal counts as missed instructional time and will be added to a student's "not present full day" today and marked as such on his/her report card.
Car Line Procedures
General Car Line Rules
- Joining the Line: Always join at the end of the line, behind the last car. "Cutting" the car line is not permitted.
- Cell Phone Use: Cell phone use is prohibited while in the car line to ensure the driver's full attention is on driving and safety.
- Drop-off/Pick-up Location: All students must be dropped off and picked up through the car line only. Dropping off students in the parking lot, bus loop, or Admin Center is not allowed.
- Student Loading/Unloading: Students must unload in the morning and load in the afternoon from the passenger side of the vehicle.
Morning Car Line Procedures
- Arrival Time: Student arrival begins at 7:50 a.m.
- Adult Supervision: Students must remain in their vehicle until morning car line staff arrive at 7:50 a.m. to begin arrival procedures. Do not drop off students earlier, as there is no adult supervision before this time.
Afternoon Car Line Procedures
- Car Rider Sign: A Purple 2024-25 OES car rider sign must be hung on the rearview mirror with the child's first and last name and grade level clearly written.
- Missing Sign Procedure: If you do not have the correct car sign, you will be asked to park, show identification in the office, obtain a car sign, and then rejoin the car line at the end. You can also stop by the front office to obtain a car rider sign beforehand.
- Staff Interaction: Do not direct questions about other parents or school matters to the staff member calling numbers, as it can cause confusion. For any issues, you may call the Office Manager at 377-7800.
- Student Not at Number: If your student is not at the number they were called for, you will need to park in the "loading zone" area (past Number 1) and walk to the front to get your student. Parents should talk to their students about listening for their name and number.
- Pick-up Time: Students must be picked up by 3:05 p.m. daily.
- Late Pick-up: Children not picked up by 3:05 p.m. will be considered late and this will be noted in student log information. Continued late pick-up can affect out-of-zone approval for students.
- Parking for Pick-up: Unless a conference is scheduled, parking and taking your child from the car rider holding area is not permitted.
Bus Riders
Driver Supervision: Students are under the supervision of the driver while on the bus.
Consequences of Non-Compliance: Failure to follow the rules and regulations will result in the loss of bus riding privileges.
Expected Conduct: Students should observe expected classroom conduct while waiting for, entering, riding, or leaving the bus.
Punctuality: Students must be at the designated bus stop at least five minutes before the scheduled pick-up time, ready to board.
Bus Stop Behavior: Orderly conduct and social distancing are expected at the bus stop.
Loading and Exiting: Students will load the bus from back to front and exit from front to back.
Prohibited Items: Nuisance items such as animals, water guns, sharp objects, glass items, and toys are not allowed on the bus.
Electronic Devices: Cell phones and other electronic communication devices are not permitted unless authorized by the driver.
Parental Responsibilities
Child Protection: Parents are responsible for providing necessary protection for their children when going to and from bus stops.
Joint Responsibility for Conduct: Parents share responsibility with school authorities for their children's proper conduct at the bus stop and on the bus.
Disciplinary Action
Suspension of Privileges: Student suspension from school transportation is a possible disciplinary action.
Problem Resolution: In cases of transportation violations, the school Principal, Assistant Principal, or Designee will address disciplinary problems, using the Code of Student Conduct as a guide. This may include, but is not limited to, In-School Suspension (ISS), Out-of-School Suspension (OSS), alternative placement, expulsion, and/or referral to appropriate authorities for potential criminal penalties.
Walkers and Inclement Weather
Thor Guard Lightning Sensor System
OES, along with all Collier County Public Schools (CCPS), utilizes a lightning sensor system called "Thor Guard". The primary concern is student safety.
- If the Thor Guard system indicates lightning, heavy rain, or tornado warnings in the OES area, students who walk home will not be released.
- When this occurs, walkers will be held in two designated classrooms.
- Parents or their authorized designees are required to come to the school to pick up their walking students.
Parent Responsibilities and Pick-up Plan
- Parents of walkers should be aware of weather conditions around dismissal time.
- A plan must be in place to ensure your child is picked up from school by 3:05 p.m. on days when walkers are held due to severe weather.
- OES provides a car sign to each walker family.
- If you are coming by car to pick up your student in the car line, please call the office by 2:30 p.m. to let them know, and they will move your student to the front.
- You must have your car sign for pick-up.
Visitors on Campus
Campus Access and ID Requirements
- Locked Doors: The front doors of Osceola Elementary are locked 24 hours a day for security.
- Requesting Access: Guests must request entry using the access control device (doorbell) located to the left of the front door.
- Initial Screening: Front office staff will ask for the visitor's name and reason for the visit, potentially including their child's name.
- Photo ID for Camera: All visitors are required to display photo identification for the camera to be granted initial entry into the front office.
- Raptor Visitor System Check: If a visitor wishes to go beyond the front office, they must present a valid U.S. Government-issued photo ID (driver's license, U.S. issued VISA, U.S. Passport) and be checked through the Raptor Visitor System.
- Mandatory ID: Visitors must bring their identification every time they come to campus.
- Visitor Identification Badge: Approved visitors will receive an official photo Visitor Identification Badge, which must be worn at all times while on campus, placed on before leaving the front office.
- Lunch Visitors: Due to District Visitor Guidelines, visitors, including family/friends from out of the country without a U.S. Government-issued ID, cannot be allowed on campus for lunch.
Special Cases and Employees
- District Employees: Will check-in using their employee badge with the Raptor System.
- District Volunteers: Will continue to use their driver's license to check-in.
- Escorted Visitor Procedures: For special events (e.g., DARE Graduation, 5th Grade Promotion, teacher conferences) where a parent or visitor cannot provide a U.S. Government-issued identification, "Escorted Visitor" procedures may apply.
- Visitors needing this accommodation should contact the Principal, Assistant Principal, or Office Manager beforehand to allow staff to review the request and make necessary arrangements.
These procedures are a crucial part of school safety and security, ensuring awareness of who is on campus and protecting students. Staff members will stop and ask individuals without a visitor's badge to secure one.
